Today's Tarot Reading For Aries

Ace of Pentacles (Reversed)

Ace of Pentacles (Reversed)

According to The Pictorial Key to the Tarot by A.E. Waite, The Ace of Pentacles is described as the following:

A hand--issuing, as usual, from a cloud--holds up a pentacle.

Divinatory Meanings: Perfect contentment, felicity, ecstasy; also speedy intelligence; gold.

Reversed: The evil side of wealth, bad intelligence; also great riches. In any case it shews prosperity, comfortable material conditions, but whether these are of advantage to the possessor will depend on whether the card is reversed or not.

Your card today is reversed, but don’t let this worry you. A reversed card does not necessarily mean a negative outcome. On the contrary: it encourages us to consider a topic from the other side, thus gaining a new perspective.

The Ace of Pentacles shows a large hand cupping one huge pentacle. If the card was right-side-up, we could think of this pentacle as representing wealth. As the card is reversed, we must question whether the riches are “of advantage to the possessor” or not.

You might wonder how riches could be disadvantageous. Most of us wouldn’t mind a few extra riches thrown our way. But the way we get this wealth is important.

Of course, it doesn’t help us to turn to crime or dangerous methods to increase our wealth, but beyond that, there are situations where gaining wealth is not truly helpful, or is not as helpful as it could be. So, how do we take in wealth in ways that do not help us, and how can we rectify these situations?

Keep in mind that wealth goes beyond just money. We can have wealth and be rich in many areas of our lives.

Broaden Your Understanding of Life’s Loans

Say you were fortunate enough to receive some loans. Perhaps you went through the process of applying for small business loans for a new company you want to start, and you were approved by the bank. After you set up your business, accomplishing what you set out to do but needed help with, then you would take from your proceeds the money you owe to the bank, plus some interest, and give it back.

You’re now in a great place, having managed to complete your goal with some help. The bank is surely happy to have their money back, but with tons of clients and money to go around, it is hard to imagine that your repayment of the loans—while being what is due—is making much of a change beyond balancing the books.

What about, then, loans on the interpersonal level?

What if your friend cancelled her plans one day to show up at your apartment with her truck and spend the day helping you move? She has given you her time, her vehicle, and her strength for the day. She may have thought this was a gift, but if you decide that you will pay her back, then you can think of this day as borrowed, or as one of many types of loans.

Consider how someone in your life has helped you out, either recently or in the past. Today, contact them and tell them the way in which you would like to help them out.

Again, this does not have to be financial. If it was your friend who helped you move, it could be as simple as an I.O.U. for a relaxing day at the beach, if that were something she would enjoy and that could help refresh and reset her.

Paying It Back Is Paying It Forward

One of the best ways to go about helping another person is with the mindset that you don’t need to get anything back in return. This helps you if the other person is not in a place to give, but if you are the person who received, then giving back to the person who first offered help or loans can have a greater impact.

Paying back loans—whether financial, practical, social, or spiritual—means that the person who gave to you is replenished. They can go back into the world with outstretched hands like the Ace of Pentacles, continuing to help others and spread positive change.
