But God decided to test Abraham. When Isaac was a young boy, God commanded Abraham to journey to Moriah and sacrifice Isaac as a burnt offering! Though heartbroken, he faithfully chose to obey, and father and son set out for the mountain carrying wood.
On the way there Isaac asked about the animal to be used for the offering, and Abraham assured him that God will provide a lamb for a burnt offering. But after they set up the pyre, Isaac realized that he is the intended offering, and accepted his fate.
